Joy Jars

Just say it with flowers

If you're born in November, you share your month with the delightful chrysanthemum. Mums, as they are colloquially called, are one of the world's most famous cut flowers. They are long-lived in a vase of water or in flower arrangements in floral foam.

The October roses are looking beautiful and I couldn't help but notice just how wonderfully eye-catching pink roses are. There are so many hues of pink, each beautiful in their own right. If planted collectively in the garden, the different tones create a delightful kaleidoscope of pinks that draw in the eye.

While symbolism has been attributed to flowers for centuries, more detailed associations with flowers and their colours began in England in the Victorian Era. Floriography, the language of flowers, became a form of communication.
